Piece of String

An architectural dreamscape rendered at home. Follow a piece of string through this real house, and explore the emotions and memories that people leave behind in the spaces they inhabit.

This work questions the way a space can affect you when you're not in it, or when it's gone. When the only record of it is a digital representation that you can step into only through a VR headset, or on a computer screen. Does it evoke the same emotions? What does it mean if the answer is yes?

I used photogrammetry to capture the space with a DSLR, thousands of photos, and manual post-processing in VR. Photogrammetry scans captured on DSLR and processed in Reality Capture. Meshes cleaned in VR in Oculus Medium. Models decimated and compiled in Blender
